The worst performers of the session were Mazda Motor Corp (T:), which fell 4.34% or 34.0 points to trade at 749.0 at the close. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:) declined 4.05% or 107.0 points to end at 2534.0 and JTEKT Corp. (T:) was down 4.01% or 37.0 points to 885.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1777 to 1717 and 165 ended unchanged.

USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 107.33, while EUR/JPY rose 0.25% to 121.16.
